Dressing newborn in winter

So it is already very cold and my baby is almost here and I was just wondering how exactly do you dress your newborns in the winter at home and when going out? (How many layers, what type of clothing etc...)TIA!

I always did a onsie under a sleeper.

a onsie for an undershirt, whatever outfit, and if outside a fleece pram.

"they" always say a baby needs one more layer then you yourself would wear...

My baby isn't here yet, but i bought a car seat cover with the fleece inside and it just slips over and you unzip to get baby in and out. Then i plan to put him in a onesie and a fleece sleeper and a got a few baby jumpsuits for him too.

I did... Onesie for an undershirt, fleece sleeper, fleece kiddopotamus(swaddler with a hole for the carseat), knit hats. I would put another blanket on top of the carseat if it were blustery or snowy.
