Mirena VS Nuva Ring- which is better?
posted 27th Nov
Trying to figure out what kind of bc I want...also depending on my insurance. So, which do you think was better or any other bc's you find works well with side effects, does your period stay regular, etc? I'm also going to the doctor's Wednesday to most likely be put on medication for PPD/depression/anxiety possibly bipolar depression, not sure what I am lol so if anyone has the same things, does their bc and meds conflict? And I've heard the Nuva Ring can fall out for some people and other people say it's great with no problems. I had the depo shot years ago when it first came out, was on it for almost 2 years when it caused me to constantly bleed for 6/7 months then not bleed at all for 6/7 months causing me to have an ovarian cyst so I don't want to go through that again lol. Just want to know the good and bad experiences and hopefully that will help me make my decision. Thanks!

I used Nuva Ring- Its caused me to have a wacky cycle and terrible pms symptoms when I did actually have a period (which was like 4 times a year). Caused me lots of trouble when I quit using cuz we were TTC....I bled for like 5 months straight when I quit using.

I had both.
Nuva Ring for a year after DD was born, and had no problems with it. I decided to go with Mirena after that because every time I'd have sex, it was like playing ring toss with DH. lol
I had the Mirena for 2 years. I gained about 20 lbs and just couldn't take it off. I had no period for 2 years, not complaining about that. I had it removed in April so we could TTC. I got pregnant right away, and lost the baby. I got pregnant again after 2 cycles, and lost that baby as well.
I've now lost 25lbs since April, and slowly losing more.

I've never had either but my SIL had both. She never had any issues with the nuva ring. She had the mirena for 6 months, got it out a few months ago. It tilted and made her bleed a LOT, and she still hasn't had a period and has been having a lot of issues now from it. I've started seeing bad drug commercials for it. My ob asked me if I wanted to get it in before my Medicaid wont cover it anymore (in August) and I told him no way in hell.

Try the nuvaring. A lot of people swear by it and others hate it. My friend has mirena and loves it but now she has baby fever and 2 years to go with it...lol

Neither. I got pregnant on the Nuva Ring and have heard lots of bad from the Mirena. Try the Paragard instead.

She can get it removed whenever she wants. SIL only had it in for 6 months.

I know that as well as she but I think she's putting it off cause she hates commitment. Plus she never had kids when she got it so her exp. was horrible when it was put in.

She doesn't have to leave it in for the next 2 years if she wants TTC

I took my nuva ring out in June, tested a few days later, positive.
However, I was on antibiotics that effect it. If they tell you antibiotics don't effect the nuva ring, they are wrong.

Mirena sucks. It causes way too many problems. And makes conceiving after getting it removed hard (atleast for us anyway). I never got ovarian cysts until I got it.

I loved nuva ring, but I simply don't trust it. It also failed at the same time my depo shot wore off. So it was a mix of things, but I don't feel comfortable considering it now.

Paraguard is better for you. I had the Mirena and had to have it removed after 4 months in the hospital. Caused to many problems for me.
