Baby Mason...

So, hubby and I are naming our son Mason Hawk. We fell in loooove with it. I know that Mason is one of the most popular boy names in the US but we still dont know anyone named Mason or anyone who has named there child that, we chose it because we love the name. But every one is already calling him Hawk, and Baby Hawk. It's almost annoying, because if I would've wanted him to be called hawk I would've made that his first name. I've even already recieved gifts personalized with Hawk. Anyone else have this happen?

I guess that is what you get for making his middle name hawk.

I would just ignore it and continue to call him by the name he was given. In person when they say Hawk ask, "who?"

My sons initials are JET and we have family members that call him that too. It will probably just become a nickname for him. I'd be happy they like the name you guys chose

Why did you choose "Hawk"? No one called my son by his middle name, but they started shortening his first name. His name is Asher, so they'd call him "Ash". Any time I'd hear that, I'd remind whoever said it that his name is Asher, not "Ash" and if I wanted him to go by "Ash" I would have named him that. No one shortens his name anymore...

My grandfather , Red Hawk was 100 % cherokee, he passed away a week before I got pregnant. So he's named after him.

It happens no matter what you name your child - just politely remind people that you prefer them to call him why his first name and they will soon get the picture. We named our daughter Vienna and occasionally at home we call her "V" but in my family we aren't afraid to tell each other what we prefer. My oldest sister has 3 kids and my middle sister has one on the way so I always ask them what they want them to be called. Her first, Alexandria is now 6 almost 7 and we used to call her Ally or Alex and now that she's old enough she tells us she wants to be called by her full name - so that's what we do now.

Well why post about it then? If you told them you don't want your child called that, and they continue to do it and/or have things personalized for him... obviously they don't care. If you don't want them to call him that, maybe change the name to honor your grandfather in a different way?
