I decided to stay at home with my first before I had her. I worked until I was 8 months pregnant.

I quit my job when I was put on bedrest at 34 weeks with my oldest. I have been "home" since then. He is almost 5 now. When he started preschool I went back to college and finished my Associates degree, and by graduation I was 12 weeks pregnant with #2, hubby said it wasn't worth going back for a few months.

Maybe get a part time position twice a week but opposite his schedule so you don't have to worry about child care?

That's what I (am doing and) plan to do when our son is here. I'd go crazy being home all the time!

I stopped working 10 days before my due date then stayed home with our son since. You shouldn't feel like you're not providing because you are. You're home taking care of your child and he's better off with you than a daycare IMO.

If you have the financial means I would do it. I'm at SAHM for over 2 yrs now & I love it. Some days I go crazy and I take her to a sitter but overall I love it. It's amazing to watch them grow & develop. And you are providing -you'll be saving on child care & you're the best care provider for your child   good luck!

I worked up until my due date. Stayed home with my son for 2 months and then decided to go back to work. After 2 months of work we realized it just wasn't practical for our family for me to keep working. Between the gas and the day care I wasn't makeing any money anways. I was devistated when I realized that I needed to stay home. But now about after 8 months home I couldn't imagine it any other way. Set goals that are practical for your family. I make dinner every other night. My house is not even very clean. I also have a few kids that I babysit during the week to make a little bit of spending money for myself. That way I don't feel like I'm always spending the family money for the things I want (clothes, craft stuff, etc.) Hope this helps. You will never regret staying home with your child.

My husband and i agreed at 30 weeks pregnant that i could go ahead and become a SAHM. He wants me to stay home for the first year or two also since i wasnt able to with our first. I have thought about getting a part time job, maybe 2 days a week, just to make me feel like im contributing. I can honestly say that being a sahm is a real eye opener to some things i never would have thought about, like eating healthier (and cheaper!) And how mich my daughters attitude (and eating habits) has changed.from being with me instead of a sitter. Just a few examples.

Especially since my son started preschool I have wanted to be working, but he only goes a half a day, and to pay for gas to get back and forth to work, and someone to watch him while I'm there, I might break even on checks. I applied for a bunch of jobs, but never got past the interviews once I was "showing", and hubby said just not to worry about it, because he was able to afford the bills without me having an income.
