Losing weight during pregnancy

posted 27th Nov
So I am halfway through my 3rd month. And as of today, i have lost 16lbs since getting pregnant. I have been eating healthy, i've even been making sure i snack a couple times during the day. If i go 2-3 hours without eating, i get insanely nauseous. After i eat (anything) i get insanely nauseous. It doesn't matter if it's something healthy, or a full meal, fast food, meat, fruit....if i eat a normal meal-sized amount of food i get sick. I've heard it is a good thing and normal to lose a little bit of weight if you're not a 'fit' body type before prenancy, but this just seems like too much... has anybody else had this problem? I just can't stand feeling so sick all the time. A girl i work with mentioned trying Emetrol for the nausea. Anybody have luck with that or anything else??

Are you overweight to begin with? Sorry I'm not much help, I'm gaining rapidly because I was on a strict diet before I got pregnant.

As far as nausea goes, I have a prescription for Zofran, and it's a lifesaver!!! I feel normal on it most of the time.

I lost 10 lbs...was sick from 10-20wks. Had anti nausea meds that didn't work that great. Just eat whatever you can keep down. Something that helped me was crushed ice with fresh lime juice and a little bit of salt.

I am the same way..I have lost 23lbs since getting pregnant and my doctor says its from eating healthier and that the baby is taking in everything I eat (because i do not eat enough due to nausea) so my body is using its stored fat. I found that just a glass of milk help with my nausea but that might just be me.

I'm 26 weeks now, and still losing weight. But I'm overweight to begin with. My doctor is not worried at all as baby is growing well. I've lost about 16lbs altogether, and haven't had morning sickness since about week 19. If you don't have a prescription for Zofran (Ondansetron) then pick up some vitamin B6. That's what I used until I got Diclectin (only available in Canada, though, from what I understand) and the B6 worked quite well. As a matter of fact, it's one of the ingredients in Diclectin, which is the most popular anti-emetic for pregnant women in Canada.

I'm not really overweight, i have thick thighs but that's about it, but i've always had that problem lol. I just wasn't exactly 'fit' before i got pregnant. I didn't workout regularly before my pregnancy, but my job is physically demanding and i walk a LOT at work, so i never had the energy afterwards to keep a regular gym schedule.

Should i take an additional B6 vitamin on top of the prenatals?

It would probably depend on the total dosage combined. However, I'm on Materna, which has the typical 1.9mgs of B6, which is way lower than the 100mgs recommended for "pregnancy-induced nausea and vomiting". Of course, I'm not a doctor, so I have to tell you to ask your doctor/midwife/pharmacist
