Mic-key (G-tube)

My daughter was born on Oct. 10th at 38 weeks and 4 days, she has been in the hosp this whole time (still is) and we were asked to think about have the Mic-key put in last week. Right now she has the NGT (feeding tube) which either way will go hope with one of them.

My post/question is for those who have had it or have baby(ies) with it.... What is your take on it? Do you think its best to have? What are the pos and cons? Any info/input will be helpful.

So, I work with the elderly but here is my opinion - NGT is great for short term, however if it will be in long term the G-tube is a much better option because it is permanent, there isn't a need to switch it out every once in a while and there is much less chance of aspiration due to reflux from it. Overall, if your baby is coming home with a tube you will want the G-tube for the convenience and when she gets older it is easier to cover up so she won't pull it out.

That's pretty much what the drs/nurses have been saying but I'm worried about her and her father getting lazy with the bottle feedungs for one and the other thing is her coming out of surgery. She's had two surgery's already....
