I might be induced early, and I'm worried

posted 26th Nov
So I am 33 weeks this week and this is my first baby. Well I also have heart issues of my own so my cardiologist said they try to get their cardiac patients to 34 weeks. I go see my cardiologist and my OB next week, and I do not think my OB will take him next week but he said possibly between 35-37 and I am worried that he will be too under developed, especially if they deliver him next week. Has anyone had their baby at 34 weeks or even 35-36?

Dont stress out to much hun im sure everything will be ok , my niece was born at 34 weeks weighing a little under 4 lbs and was home 2 weeks later , it will suck having a baby in the nicu but it will be for the best outcome

DS was 36 weeks and had to stay in the NICU for a week for his lungs. He is now 4 months and hitting all his milestones on time! But knowing you are early they will probably give you a steroid shot for baby's lungs.

I know it's scary but they will take good care of him. Hopefully you will get to make it to 37 weeks! Stay strong!

At 37 weeks, a baby is considered full term. Any baby born past 30 weeks has practically the same chance of survival as a full term baby.

I have a friend that had her son at 36, he was/is a little underweight but still an ornry little boy. he is almost 3 now. she is pregnant with her 2nd child and she is just 33 weeks and already dilated 5.5cm and they keep sending her home because of the lack of progress supposedly. I think her son had to be in the nicu for a short while but that was because he was so small they wanted to make sure his lungs were developed correctly. now he is healthy.

I had my 1st at 36 weeks completely healthy he came home with me 2 days after I had him. I had my second at 34 weeks completely healthy she came home with me within 2 days also. I had my 3rd at 37 weeks healthy & she came home with me a day later. I guess it depends all babies are different. GOOD LUCK.

Talk to your doctor about steroids to make sure the lungs are ok. that is the last thing to develop that they worry about. Im 32 weeks & getting them this week I have had them will all my babies & I wouldnt want to have a baby early without them. The closer to delivery you have the shots the better. My daughter that was born at 34 weeks shouldnt have been as healthy as she was but with her lungs fully developed I believe that is what helped her come home with me prefectly healthy!

Yes I definitely will! my next appointment is the 3rd and we are going over delivery options, and kinda get a better understanding of what we are going to do. because so far we have not talked about anything and we still have yet to set a plan so I'm hoping on monday I'll have a better feeling of whats going on.

I had my son at 33 weeks and he was juust fine. he was never even sent to the NICU. they only had him on oxygen for 1hour. we stayed in the hospital in the regular nursery for 3 weeks then we got to go home. he is a very healthy 4 year old now

It's normal to freak out, a baby born at 34 weeks will most likely stay in the NICU for a couple weeks but there shouldn't be any long term damage   Just need to keep him to fully develop.
