Kids reaction to reg. milk vs lactose free

posted 26th Nov
‎2 of my kids are lactose intolerant. And the one who isn't won't drink regular milk because he is used to the creamy sweet taste of lactose free. I bought some regular milk for the first time in awhile, and poured it on cereal to see how the kids responded. Baby ate it. M took a few bites which is his normal. And E spit the first bite back in his bowl and exclaimed, "Mommy! What kind of milk is that? It's disgusting"! I ask, "Why"? And he says, "It tastes like it has pickles in it". I guess that means sour haha

So, you gave your lactose intolerant kids regular milk? And yuck lol. I can't have dairy and after drinking soy/almond milk for so long and dd sharing with me I agree it tastes sour lol

Well, my oldest is turning 5 and I haven't tried giving him regular milk in a couple of years, so I wanted to see if he might have outgrown the intolerance.

And baby hasn't had it for a week when he was almost one, and had a little watery poo, so I was testing to see if he actually is intolerant or if was a bug...

Yes. It's 3.99 a half a gallon and the Lucerne is 3.59 a half gallon. We get 9 gallons through WIC which is dropping down in Dec. to 6 gallons and we go through a half a gallon or more a day. So I wanted to see if by some miracle one of them is okay with regular milk. Regular milk is 1/4 the cost of lactose free. But no. Both LO's had poos after the little they had yesterday. It's just crazy I'm spending $50 a month on milk alone and sometimes more. And it's about to jump up to $75+ friggin expensive.

Jeeze   is soy not an option? Here I can get a box of twelve cartons for 13 bucks at Costco. I can't afford lactaid on a regular basis and since I'm the only one that is lactose intolerant it's just easier to buy soy/almond for me and dairy for DH and dd

They won't drink it. :/ I can cook with the regular though and they have no problems so that's a positive in the winter
