Picked a boy name...

My husband and I decided on Emmett Alcide... we love it! Everyone I told, loved it, even my three girls... well my girls told their Grandma (My Mother in Law) .. and she was like "What kind of name is that?" She said it was stupid and he's going to grow up gay? Then my oldest daughter said oh no he'll be picked on! And she said YEAH HE WILL.... basically hurt my feelings, because it's not "normal"?! My feelings are hurt, and I was a little mad. I don't want my children making fun of their brother because of it... i'm not changing the name, but this is just nuts! I thought it was quite rude.

Emmett is a wonderful name. Not sure about Alcide, but it is in the middle.

How do you pronounce Alcide?

my hubby is emmett. And ever since twilight Came out it's getting more popular. I doubt most people will ever know his middle name. Plus Emmett is a good adult name. It will grow with him.

Alcide? Like in True Blood?

I'm no TB nerd or Twihard but you're giving your child the same name as two vampires?

I wanted Emmett my husband wanted Alcide.. so we just agreed to put it together. It really hurt my feelings though... her opinions. Plus I don't want my girls having a change of opinion because their grandma hates it...

Yeah... my husband has wanted that as a middle name for awhile.. so he got what he wanted, and I got Emmett..

I like Emmett and we even considered it for this pregnancy if it had been a boy but I'm not sure about alcide, it just makes me think of tb
