Tall & skinny children

What on earth do you clothe them with??
My 3 year old is thin and on the taller side. She seriously fits nothing.
I have to buy her dresses in 4T. They're a little baggy, but 3T ones look like mini-skirts.
2T pants fit around the waist, but they look like capri's. 3Ts fit in length, but they fall right off her butt.
Shirts I can get away with since they don't really need to "fit" per say, as long as the sleeves are long enough.
But good grief. Is there anywhere that makes clothes specifically for tall and thin kids? Or do I just need to invest in a sewing machine?

I have the same problem with pants and shorts for DS. I have invested in belts of every color.

Leggings and those shirts that look like dresses, lol... so they cover her butt, I don't like her wearing tight clothes, but regular pants look like capri's :/ poor girl.

If you have an ounce of seamstress in you, your biggest help will be buying the appropriate length in pants and just sewing some elastic into the waist of it. That's the only way LO can find pants to fit (he's tall and skinny).
Shirt wise, I haven't found a good option other than just having him in a baggy shirt that's long enough.

My step daughter is 5 and wears a size 7-8 bc she is so tall. We buy her jeans from old navy bc they are long enough but have those elastic straps in the waist band inside the waist to adjust to fit her up top. It is hard though. I am only 5'1" but the kid comes up to my arm pit already. :/

DS is the same way!! He needs a 2T in length but like 12 months around his waist. 12 month pants look like high waters on him lol

Now that my boys are older and out of T sized jeans, I can buy the slim ones and it makes a world of difference.

This isn't the same problem, but DD is really awkward to clothe right now, too. She's 17 months and 18m shirts fit perfectly, but pants are too short. 24m is way too huge.

That's how my daughter is. Jeans work fine because they have the tightening strap. 3t is right for her height but too big for her waist so I tie the waist with a little hair tie. I always get bigger shirts.

Quoting Mommy and loving it .:" My 4yr old wheres a size 8 kids. "
Mine is a 3T in the waist and a 5T in the length.

LO has a longer torso than she does legs. she's very tall but not "leggy". She will be 3 in january and wears a 5T top and 4T bottoms. It's difficult especially because we shop mostly at children's place. and 4T and 5T outfits are completely different, so we have to figure out ways to match the pants to the shirts. OH and she cant wear jeans. No hips whatsoever. Bum hangs out =P

Yup, this. And drawstring pants. I avoid jeans.

Definitely adjustable waist bands. My son isn't tall. He's actually short for his age, but still incredibly skinny. I just buy the right length pants, and then cinch the waist down as far as it will go. I've started buying him 5 slims from the Children's Place, and they're better, but I still have to tighten them down a lot.
