Implied of child abuse. *Vent*

posted 26th Nov
This has single handedly been the worst day of my life...Or at least it feels that way now.
LO started having diarrhea Wednesday, which isn't abnormal. He will occasionally have random bouts of diarrhea, usually it clears up within a day. Well, it didn't, and between Thanksgiving and Black Friday, I couldn't get him in with the doctor. Saturday, he got a BAD diaper rash and we immediately started using diaper rash cream and covering it with a bandage to prevent irritation (It was on his thigh).
Today, I take him to daycare, drop him off. He wasn't running a fever (Never ran a fever during the diarrhea spell) and he hadn't had a bad diaper since mid Saturday, I thought it was over with. I go in and the woman who runs the daycare stops me and says that he'd had 3 very watery poops today, and that the bandage came off. I asked her if they put another one over it, and she said "What exactly was that?" I said "I told his teacher when I dropped him off, it's a diaper rash."
She says "Well, it looks like a burn." and looks at me with this "Yeah, go ahead, fess up" look. I said "It's a diaper rash."
SHE SAYS AGAIN "Well I'm just saying, it looks like a burn." and tilts her head down and looks at me over the top of her glasses with that same condescending look, like she was expecting me to say "Yeah, I burned him, my bad." I don't even spank this kid, we're anti-corporal punishment...
I walked away. I got my kid, I got him in the car, called the doctor and got an appointment. I cried the entire way to the doctor's office. I couldn't believe the way she acted towards me, like really, why would it be so easy for her to think that I burned my child? Because I'm young? Have tattoos?

Anyway...The doctor said it was a yeast infection. She prescribed cream, and gave me a stool sample kit just to make sure it isn't a parasite or something. I told the doctor about what the woman said because I was just so heart broken and she said "That is OBVIOUSLY not a burn. Don't worry about it."
But still, it bothers me...I love the daycare, it's an excellent daycare, they're very, very, very good with LO, but that just really smurfing hurt...

I am so very sorry. I would tell that bitch the dr said it was yeast infection NOT a burn. I worked at a daycare and there was one woman that was quick to say a parent was abusing their child over something as simple as hang nail. I'm so sorry she treated you that way.

Some daycare providers think they know everything. Just brush it off.

I would ask the doctor for a note and shove it in her face.

But really, I got accused of beating my kid by our daycare because she had bruises on her shins and tummy when she started cruising.

I'd lay a complaint or confront her personally. You dont have to be aggressive or OTT just say something casually like "I thought you would like to know that the nappy rash had a slight yeast infection which is why it looked bad, since I couldn't get to the doctor over the holiday period. I was really offended when you implied it was burn"

Get a note and slap her with it.

Diaper rash looks like a burn. Yeast kinda burns the skin. Doesn't mean you abuse your child. If you were, you wouldn't be taking such great care of it.

I didn't even think to get a doctor's note. I'm sure I still can though, if I call.
We're not taking him to the daycare tomorrow...Just because it's a mixture of I don't want to look at someone who would even fathom that I'm capable of hurting my child, and because we need to go ahead and get that stool sample and get it to the doctor.
It just hurt me down to my very core. I love my son, I could never harm him like that.

I'd change daycares personally. 1st of all if she suspects abuse she is not supposed to confront or make accusations against anyone but is bound by law to report it to CPS. Obviously you have nothing to worry about it she did actually report it as your son has seen his ped since and the cause of the rash has already been determined,.

I'm sorry she was such an smurf to you

I would bring a doc's note. I would also be upset if I was accused of abuse, but at least she's not overlooking anything.

Apparently so...I looked at it again at the doctor's office when she took off the bandage to inspect it (They did put another bandage on) and it looked nothing like a burn. I don't even know where she got that. It looked like an irritated diaper rash.

!!

My dr is awesome and would word it in some great way. "The mark on the thigh is clearly the result of a yeast infection and should have immediately been evident to anyone working in child care." Or something to make her feel like a tool.
