Army

posted 26th Nov
I am working on going into the army, but some people get mad at me and go what about your kids, I have a almost 3 month old and a 2 yr old. I would do anything for them. I want to go into the army to better myself and give something to my kids. I am sacrificing myself for the ones I love. They need someone to look up too. dont get me wrong theres daddy. I just want them to feel extra safe in a horrible world. UGH venting   its taking some time, I have to lose a little weight and do a push up lol people can be debbie downers.

my mom was in the reserves. I hated it. Long f'd up story short she got screwed and they forced her out before 20 yrs was up. Sometimes it's not all it's cracked up to be and it was worse (at least back then idk bout now) for a single mom. Not a "debbie downer" just personal experience with it from a kid's point of view I guess. Like AP said, make sure you know exactly what you're signing up for. They offer lots of incentives for a reason.

If I shared my personal experiences... smurf. I smurfing hated the Marine Corps, and it wasn't even the training or deployments because those were motivating as hell. Those recruiters will sugar coat anything.

Military life sucks IMO. I know it's different from the person who's AD, but being a dependent and having kids who are dependents just sucks. It will be even worse when they get older and wonder where their daddy is when he's deployed. The good thing about military life is having a place to live and money to pay the bills. But unless I can get a job later, there's not much money for extras. And we're at the mercy of the government who wants to decrease base pay and BAH.

Take it from someone who's an Army Brat. I loved it. I wish my dad would have stayed in longer. I'm also an Army spouse and a former soldier.
