Well I hope you don't have GD and have it go undiagnosed. Personally, I'm glad I did it bc I have a friend that lost her baby at 37 weeks bc her GD was not kept under control and she was overweight too. Not to scare you but that test serves an important purpose.

Well, I think you're making a bad decision. The don't test you for smurfs and giggles - diabetes is a very serious disease.

I mean, c'mon... there ARE worse things in life than drinking some sugar water and having your blood drawn.

Her baby, her body and its her choice. She can discuss it with her doctor. It's optional and there are some people who are considered low risk and don't have to get tested.

She said she falls into overweight category that's not low risk. Even if she is just barely in it.

Then she can discuss the test with her doctor.

Smurf it. Why even bother with any prenatal care then?

Just seems like you're being defiant. Whatever.

Where is this "optional" stuff coming from?? Everything in life is optional. It's about what's best for you and the baby.

It's just blood test. No one is asking you to donate a kidney or anything.

Good luck with everything. I'm sure you'll be fine.

If you're over weight, that's something you NEED to get done! I just barely passed my test. I failed my first one and had to go in for a 3 hour, which I just barely passed! If you fail you have to change you're diet and do things very differently. And like one girl said, their friend lost their baby. Why would you put your baby at risk? Also if you do have GD, the baby can get to big and they will make you have a c-section. (Or so I've been told by a nurse.)

But why would you want to put your body and your baby at risk?

If you ever get light headed and/or super dizzy, drink some apple juice. If that's the only thing that helps, you may have GD!

If you're lucky, you won't have it and everything will go fine...

When I drank mine I thought I was gonna be sick. While everyone else that was there seemed to be fine with it. All you do is drink the stuff, take a blood test and you're done. While I waited they had a prenatal class to attend. That explained why the test was important.
