No I didn't think that.

I personally haven't but I'm not the only one outraged and I wouldn't be surprised if her family has already hired a PI. I know they aren't going to let it go I think it's just difficult because the case has already been closed.

Not enough facts here to really debate...

But I can say this. If this was the method a person chose to commit suicide, curling up with your child would be the body's natural response. When you are cold, you try for warmth, and when something burns you, you move away. Biologically we are wired to preserve our bodies from harm, so no longer how strong of a death wish any of us have, we still have natural reflexes.


What a terrible story. An what a piece of crap article. There was more information about the husband/war hero then the deaths or lives of his family. And why did they have to post the picture of them if they weren't even going to offer any detail on their lives.

I am so in love with babies. I just want to puke now. Regardless of who did what, this is despicable and truly tragic.

That is what I was thinking.

It makes me want to vomit. I think any momma instantly thinks of how helpless she had to feel in there with her babe.

That does not sound like a murder/suicide to me. I think the husband had something to do with it.

So what do they think happened exactly, she punched herself in the face so hard it resulted in a broken nose and cut lip and then she locked herself and her baby in the trunk until they basically froze to death??....... Oh yeah that sure makes a lot of sense  

I would get the media involved. Contact local news, maybe even Nancy Grace? Anyone that would listen to her story. My heart goes out to this Momma, it's so heart breaking.

I followed this story as closely as I could as I live in a small down near the Petawawa army base that this family lived before this tragedy. No matter what I had read in the news (which was extremely limited) things just never fit for me. Hearing they were found locked in the trunk of a car certainly wouldn't scream murder/suicide to anyone. There have been numerous suicides here over the years of both military members and their spouses and this method certainly has never been used in the past. I studied suicide awareness over the past few years and it is well known that men generally choose a more violent method than women. Men would be more likely to shoot themselves, jump from a high place, or hang themselves, whereas women are more likely to take pills to simply "go to sleep", or something comparable that will not "hurt". Of course there are exceptions like the woman who drove their car into traffic with her children in the car, or into a body of water, but even with these cases, the expectation of it being a "quick death" is there. For a woman to consider hypothermia as a form of suicide would be a drastic reach, let alone allowing her child to die that way. I don't believe for one minute this is the case here. In photos I have seen there is no snow in the area in which they were found- granted it was early in March, so it's possible that evening temperatures dropped, but if they were already in the trunk at that point, their breath and body temperatures would raise the temperature (even slightly) in the confined area. One of the things that puzzled me (being a military spouse myself) is that her husband is listed as a "private" but the claims are that he had been to Afghanistan 4 years prior to his wife and child's deaths. When you join the Canadian Military, you are a private for 3 years and then are automatically promoted to Corporal for time served in your trade. It is not common for a private to go overseas, as their training is not complete, although I have seen it happen. If he did go overseas as a private, he would have returned as a corporal, so why was he a private 4 years later? The only way that happens (to be demoted) is if you did something fairly drastic, but even when you are demoted, the longest that can continue for as a private is 2 years in which time he would have received counselling services for what ever issues had caused the demotion. *sorry I know this is a really long post, so I'll try to limit the rest of my post* It doesn't make sense that this woman was snuggling her child (who she is assumed to want dead?), after locking herself and her child in the trunk of her car ("how did she close the trunk?"), there were NO fingerprints on the outside of the trunk (hers should have been there as she packed her vehicle for a trip home), her husband went to his parent's place while she and the baby were travelling to celebrate her birthday with friends and family who she had reportedly been excited to see again (why exactly would her husband not want to attend the party?). Too many things don't add up in this case. I really hope the family requests all information to be made available to them as to how this investigation came to the conclusion of a murder/suicide and looks for anything possible to get this case reopened. From what I know as an outsider it's puzzling to not have answers to all of these questions. I would expect nothing less than full disclosure as a family member and would stop at nothing to get it.
