Im going through a divorce. Him and I are completely.civil so its made things a lot easier. I wont have to scrap up money for a lawyer. We're gonna do joint custody. But she will mainly.be with me.

Many counties in diff states offer legal aid. I highly suggest you.look into it. The good thing is though it is very unlikely to have ur lo be taken away from you unless you were a crackhead.. assuming u are not lol. Or unfit. Which, i doubt you are either. Look into whether legal aid is offered in your county and go from there.

I talked to him about that. I never wanted to make this problem so big but his smurf sister and mother convinced him to fight for full custody. I do not know why.

well, you can file for a divorce without an attorney, but it will still cost hundreds of dollars just for the filing fee.

If you expect a custody battle ahead, you may want to look into legal aid. Most cities have a group of attorneys that will provide low cost services to parents needing help with custody cases.

And most courts will not assign joint custody anymore - children are more stable in one home with visitation to the other parents.

And where can I go to look for this? I know they do and I've been doing some googling and so far all I've found is useless. They don't help with divorces nor cild custody.

If you have a phone book handy, look under Attorneys or Lawyers. There's probably an ad for low cost services.

Do you have a local law school near you? They offer help, also i would call your county's courthouse and ask for any information on legal aid for divorce and custody. It's how i started my divorce process. We never had kids together, but it did help with at least the filings and such.
