Is your uterus measuring bigger than it should be?

posted 26th Nov
How much bigger is it measuring. I'm 31 weeks and my fundal height is saying 35 weeks. It's been measuring bigger for awhile but started off 2 weeks bigger then 3 weeks now today it was 4 weeks too big. So I'm going Friday for a growth ultrasound. Has anyone experienced this? I'm not nervous I just hope she's not really big and they end up changing my due date this late in the pregnancy. I mean I want her to get her on time but I'm scared that on time might be earlier than I thought it would be. The last period I had before I got pregnant was a week late but then I had one then got pregnant. Everyone has always thought I got pregnant before I say I did and I always had proof in my due date to tell them otherwise. I'm afraid they'll change the due date now and everyone will think I've been lying the whole time. Oh well. At least we have everything for our baby girl already so if she does decide to come earlier we are ready for her.

they don't change due dates based on fundal height, only on u/s measurements and only if they are consistently more than 2 weeks ahead. My fundal height measured 10 weeks ahead for pretty much all of my third trimester, I delivered at 38 weeks and measured 48 cm. I had a 9 lb 8 oz baby boy and had excess fluid (the primary reason for the extra large uterus.

I had poly hydraminos ( excess fluid) with my 3rd and 4th child. i was induced 38 weeks with them both and with number 3 I measured 52 and number 4 48 . They both were big babies as well but not huge . I started measuring bigger around week 16.

2 weeks difference could be something as simple as the position of the baby as well. I wouldnt stress

I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead and have been for about a month. There has been no talk of changing my due date or anything I should be alarmed about

I measured 5 weeks ahead throughout my first pregnancy and DD was born at 41.5 weeks.
This time I am measuring 2 weeks ahead.

FYI the MOST acurate date that you can get is based on when your last period/ovulation was and when you had sex. If you were not sure about those details then the second most acurate date is the early ultrasound (also called dating ultrasound) done at around 10 weeks. Later ultrasounds are much LESS acurate. Just stick to the earlier dates and ignore any other predictions.

Also, you can NOT acurately measure a babies size using ultrasounds! Almost everyone I know who had late ultrasounds said they predicted the baby would be big and it wasn't. At 39 weeks they estimated my DD at 8 1/2 pounds but when she was born more than two weeks later she was only 7 lbs 10oz even though they usually gain a lot of weight near the end.

P.S. small babies are more likely to need to feed every half hour to 45 minutes 24/7 because they need to catch up on their weight. And they get cold easier. Fat babies are happy babies!
