Is she overweight?

I took DD to her WIC appointment a few weeks ago, and the lady said that at 28 pounds and 32 inches, she was overweight. She certainly doesn't look overweight. She's very active. She never sits still. She's almost 17 months old.

I think they just don't know what they're talking about. I usually take her to an actual pediatrician and they've never said anything about her weight. She's always been a big baby. Always in the 95th percentile for height and weight. So what do you think?

Wic is stupid. They always say kids are over/under weight. If your pedi isn't concerned, I wouldn't be either.

Those charts are bogus just like the adult charts are

It doesnt matter how she looks to us in pictures if your pedi havent told you she is overweight dont worry about it. Next time tell your pedi what wic told you see what your pedi thinks.

Sic has to go by guideline set forth by the state and they r so stupid.

she's fine! My daughter was considered "overweight" at WIC when she was younger. she was 2 and weighed 36 lbs but she was tall for her age now at 4 she's only gained about 6 oz but shes way taller so now she looks like a bag of bones lol

She looks fine to me.. just sounds like she's large (not in a bad way) for her age in general which is fine. If you are feeding her well and she's active (what toddler isn't?) then don't worry about their stupid selves.

She looks fine. As long as she's healthy and her pediatrician agrees, I wouldn't worry about what WIC says. Honestly, they're usually really off base with it comes to calling babies under and over weight from what I've seen.

Not at all. I would not pay any mind to what the WIC office says. They tell me my LO is underweight. He 20 months and about 24 pounds. He's in like the 30th for weight and 90th for height. the pedi says my son is perfectly fine.

She is beautiful.


If she has always been in the high percentiles don't worry. It's only a concern when a kids puts on or drops weight suddenly.

My DD is tiny - she was off the chart and has now climbed to the 10th%. Every kids is different.

My son is also in the 95th percentile for his weight, but he's in the 98th percentile for his height, so his BSA is in the right range. She looks fine. Some idiot probably looked at a number on a piece of paper and didn't know what they were talking about. She looks very healthy (and also tall, which could be why she weighs more). I'd go by what her pediatrician says, not WIC.
