That is pretty cute

Its not about the words being inappropriate themselves, it's about the attitude behind some of things that are said. There is a lot of sarcasm and back talk on Spongebob, and I don't want my kid to learn to talk to people that way. Not to mention the eye rolling

Because I find it obnoxious and stupid. I'd much rather him watch something educational. That's the stuff I even watch. I watch history channel or his educational cartoons with him all day. I see the TV as a tool to learn from, while being entertained. I don't see a point to stupid mind numbing entertainment. My husband and I don't even watch a lot of TV series. Maybe 6. Other than that we watch history, science, discovery, do things online that require reading and furthering knowledge. He teaches himself how to build custom roms for phones in his spare time. I waste my time on here. Even though a lot of crap is pointless on here, I've learned more on here than I can imagine, and never would have known otherwise.

to each their own but there is really nothing wrong with non-educational cartoons every now and then. moderation is key. unless they are teaching your kids how to rape and steal but i'm pretty sure Nickelodeon wouldn't support that..

I agree, each their own. That's just my reason behind it. There's other shows we don't let him watch either for various reasons. He doesn't watch Wonder Pets because they don't pronounce words properly, and I don't want him having speech issues because of a tv show. He also doesn't watch Higglytown Heroes, because they're just plain stupid, and stereotype the black girl as an idiot who's always outsmarted by a squirrel.

I thought Adventure time was an adult cartoon? I've never seen it, but that's the impression I got.

DS is 4 he's been watching Spongebob since he was like 2.

idk man, it sounds like you're looking way too much into cartoons. my daughter has always loved Wonder Pets and she speaks perfectly. looking back on the cartoons i grew up on (90's Nick/Cartoon Network and old Bugs Bunny cartoons) you would think i would be completely stupid, racist and running around with a gun blowing off people's heads thinking they would just come back to life but im not. things have changed a lot, cartoons are not as hardcore as they used to be but to each their own.

Your brain feeds like your body. Put good things in, get good things out. That's how I look at it.
