Slow cooking BBQ ribs...

posted 26th Nov
I've got quite a bit of ribs in the slow cooker. I put a bottle of BBQ sauce in their with them. Last time I did it on high for 6 hours and they still weren't falling apart. I put them in at 9 this morning and go to work at 4 tonight (I'll be leaving for work earlier than 4 obviously) so do I leave them on low or put them on the "warm" setting or do I just leave them on high? I'm confused with what to do with them, but they probably need more like 8 hours of cooking instead of 6. I will be home from work by 9:30 tonight.

Put them on high as long as you can if there's a bunch in there. It will take them longer to get really tender and fall off the bone good.

So if they're in the crock pot on high a total of 12.5 hours it isn't going to hurt them? Or should I just turn it to low while I'm at work tonight for the 4.5 hours I'll be gone?

I don't think it would hurt them. Does your crock pot get really hot? If so maybe turn it on med/low. Check it before you leave and see if there's enough liquid. You can always add a little water so it doesn't start to burn when it reduces.

I left them on low tonight while I worked. I probably should have added more liquid/water before leaving for work, but I'm still learning. They're not dried out to where we can't eat them, but they definitely did begin getting there and I caught them just in time haha
