Right, but if you don't NEED it. I guess I'd be thinking about someone who truly needed one not getting it because the hospital ran out or whatever.

I bought a used one but only use it for when I'm shopping or when input to dinner witch is never... But I don't use it as a car seat

I wouldn't get one from the hospital personally. I was being sarcastic a little because like you said if they don't need it why take it.

We used our convertible seat to come home and the hospital we were at did give me crap about it. They kept telling me they needed to check the base to be sure it was installed correctly and i told them you are more than welcome to come out and check my seat but it isn't a base because we are using a convertible and she looked at me weird and said why? She needs to be in an infant seat. So I just told her that it is rated from 5-100lbs and since she was born at 8lbs 8oz i was sure she was going to be just fine. Then she didn't even check it!

well the paper work says not too. but I did and was fine. lol shhhhh dont' tell on me. but not for 2-3 weeks. i was not allowed to drive for 6 weeks. idk why. So my monther in law took me out a few times and I would lift the seat. Dh carried it the rest of the time.

yes, and my hospital the nurse comes out with you and checks it, so you dont have to re-install the carseat.
