Chicken n Dumplins... no bullion.

posted 26th Nov
I want to make chicken and dumplins tonight, but I have no chicken broth or stock, or bullion cubes. I've always made it with one of those, and I don't want to go to the store, can I just use cream of chicken soup and water? Will it taste about the same? I've only ever made it one way. lol

Can't you use the broth you cook the chicken in ? I would just boil the chicken and use that.

I've always boiled the chicken first and use the water from boiling the chicken as broth.. You just season the water w/ lots of butter, salt and pepper and whatever other seasonings you want to use.

Yeah, but I only use boneless skinless chicken breasts. I usually use half water half stock and boil the chicken in that, and it gives it a LOT more flavor. I think I might just add a can or two of cream of chicken soup to it and hope it doesn't all go to hell. hahahaa.

If you season the water you use to boil it, it is essentially stock when you're done cooking it, right?

I wouldn't use cream of chicken soup!! Hey, you could use Ramen seasoning packet.. It's basically bullion.

Not very good broth. lol When you use boneless skinless chicken breasts, it ends up being like salty water that vaguely tastes like chicken. hahaah
