Santa.. Pointless post. Long.

"I think it's sad that people have to believe in something to be happy. Just like believing in Jesus Christ. Yeah he may have been a person. But I don't believe in what was written in the bible. And if your child chooses to believe Santa is real then let them. But if my kid came up and said is Santa real? I would say He was a person who lived a long time ago and the story of how he came about. But to tell your children that some fat guy in a red suit flies a sled with reindeer on it. You've got problems. People have no common sense now a days. Yes I do have a child and she loves me and I don't sugarcoat stuff like half of parents do now. I don't even get why parents do it. Parents say if you aren't good you will be on the naughty list and have no presents. And when Christmas Day comes the spoiled brat still gets presents. Really? Quite sad. My daughter will get presents regardless. That's celebrating Christmas. But what I would do is tell her if she doesn't behave she will get those toys taken away. Just like I would any other normal day. Bring on the hate. I know there's some ignorant parents wanting to spew their venom at me. Difference is. I don't care cause at the end of the day. I have my wonderful daughter and you've got your brat."

So read an article again on cafemom (I HAVE to stop reading these. Lol) And this womans comment pissed me right off. Her opinion didn't piss me off, but the end of it did.
My personal thing will be with mine, she can decide for herself if Santa is real. But while she's little enough, I will do the whole Santa thing. Because Santa was really fun for me when I was a kid. I loved going on the computer to use the Norad Santa Tracker. Or possible Santa sightings from jets. It was fun. It was like a little bit of magic every year.
And Christmas for all of us was being together, not presents. Presents were just extra.
I think it makes me mad too, when people say you're lying to your kid. If keeping magic alive for your children, in this world, is lying, than dammit I am a liar. I never felt lied to when I found out Santa wasn't real. I grew out of it.
I don't usually judge other moms. We're all trying to do the same thing by doing what is best for our kids. I do judge other moms when they say things like that because they are so self righteous sounding. Like they know best.
I am happy with my decisions, its just annoying when people try to make you feel like you're doing it wrong because you're not doing it like them.
So I kind of just ranted a lot. And I may have invited a little hate on myself. But thats ok. I am happy with my choices. This was kind of pointless. And I wanted to talk to someone about it because NOBODY is home. Lol. And the baby is sleeping. So I'll end this now!

Meh.

It comes from both sides. I see tons of parents talk about how not doing the whole Santa thing is "robbing the child of the magic" or "ruining Christmas" and things like that. That's no nicer. Also, the "brat" comment I think we referring to the situation that was mentioned beforehand, when bratty children misbehave, the parents threaten them with the naughty list, and they get gifts anyways. I don't think she was implying ALL kids who believe in Santa are brats.

This is one of those topics where both sides like to attack the other.

I mean, I get it. I don't think assuming every kid who believes in Santa is a brat is acceptable though. I won't be doing the Santa thing. I've discussed it before on here..maybe I'm just sensitive but, I was extremely hurt when I realized everyone lied to me yet crucified me if I told a lie. From then I always said I'd never tell my kid there were things like that.

Yeah, I think that womans whole comment made me mad lol. I love how everyone has different opinions. I just hate how some parents try and act like they have the next god or something.
