Honest opinions- Should I get help?

Thank you guys so much for your help!   I think I will seek some help out. I dont think it interferes with day to day life, I just need some better coping skills.

I think if it's going to help you find ways to deal with the extremes, then yes. Maybe it's abnormal, maybe not... but IMO, if it makes such an impact on you, I think it would be good to talk to someone.

I know what video you're talking about and I REFUSE to watch it. But, I think you should talk to someone IF you feel that you need to talk about it or they can help you find ways to cope with things. I think the way you feel is in the middle. I think it's normal feelings but to a minor extreme, if that makes sense.

The one from asia? I think it's resurfaced and gone viral, but completely shocking and I've never seen anything so horrible.

I see what you mean. I think maybe I should see someone in order to deal with the way I handle it... I need to kind of... desensitize myself from it, if that makes sense?

I think no matter what you should talk to someone about it. I mean even if it's just talking to someone other than your husband will be good. Even if they can't do anything but listen that'll help get it off your chest and out of your mind hopefully. Our emotions are all to the extreme right now and some of them are more extreme than the other. We all need help sometimes and there's no shame in that. Good luck and I hope it get's better soon!!

Since you arent due until June, you have a looooong way to go. If it's an occassional thing and a loved one can lovingly sequester you until you get it together, fine. If not, and if this situation imacts your life and your family's life significantly, go see a professional.

It is just once in a while... maybe once a month or two. I'm trying to avoid stuff like this as much as I can.

Thank you. I bet someone on the outside would tell me how to handle it better. DH doesn't really know how to handle it when I cry to him about this stuff.

I think a therapist could only help in your situation. It is worth a shot.

Best of luck!

I've been that way for as long as I can remember. I cry over almost anything. A bug hits the windshield, I cry. My son says something to remind me he's 8 and not my lil banana anymore and I cry. Dh just makes a joke about it, and brings me out of it.

I can't read the news tho, when it comes to those types of things. I'll bawl for days. The story that hit me the hardest to date was Baby P, in England or something. I curled up in bed after I read it and sobbed into my hubby's sleeping back.

He says my heart is to big. I never would have thought that there might be something wrong with me for it tho. I just take stuff really hard.

There is NOTHING wrong with being empathetic and compassionate towards others, especially children. If it affects your daily life(other than turning the news off) then it's not a problem. If it bothers you, talk to someone but it's not a bad thing - we need more people like that in the world.
And I have the same thing. I don't watch the news and when that video of that Malaysian baby cam out, I was pregnant and it made me cry for awhile.

I'm like that most of the time. I just feel too much. It's really hard but I don't think it's something to get help for unless it is severely effecting your every day life. No shame in having empathy and compassion.

(I will delete this when you delete your OP btw.)
