what does your toddler know?

DD is 18 months old. DS is 5...so it's been a while since I've had another toddler. Not sure what I should expect of her developmentally!

So, what can your toddler do/say, etc?

Just curious, this is not a competition!  

ETA: When do you plan on starting to potty train?! Or if you've started, when did you start?

My daughter will be 15 months on the first and she knows head/belly button/nose/mouth/booty. She can only say 'what is that', 'bye-bye', 'ba-ba' and that's about it.

Also, I HOPE to have her potty trained by the time she is 2 but I know that's kinda on the kid.

Thank God. So my daughter is on track. She can drive a stick, is she advanced?  

That's a pretty open ended question honestly and it WILL bring out the competitive or 'bullsmurf' calling nature in people. Also, toddler is a wide scope lol. There are a lot of google pages out there with averages.

That's what I was hoping for but now that she's 18 months...it doesn't seem llike it'll happen hah

My toddlers are 2.5 and 4. They can both have a pretty good conversation with you but it wasn't always that way. They both had speech delays. My oldest use to speak in jargon ALL the time. I still get the babycenter.com updates in my emails. They are a pretty good guideline for us.

As for PTing, I started with my oldest a few days after she turned 3. By 3.5, she was fully potty trained (day and night). We are working on my 2.5 year old now but he's a stubborn little guy. One minute he wants to potty, the next he'd rather pee in a diaper.

Damn, I forgot about those emails! I probably still get them for my 5 year old  


And yeah potty training is just a pain...DS was 3. I really don't want it to be the same with DD.

My daughter has been able to communicate pretty effectively since about 18 or 19 months with short 3-4 word sentences. I don't keep track of the words she knows now because there are very few she can't say at 22 months. Although, my son was talking in full sentences by 15 months.
She colors and paints in a more controlled way now, not just scribbles. She is learning the letters and numbers and does well with them but certainly doesn't have them all down yet, where my son had them all down pat by 18 months.
She sings songs like Itsy bitsy spider and patty cake well and does the hand movements for it correctly.
She can't peddle her trike but rides it by pushing it with her feet instead.
And she started asking to use the potty around 15 months and now she poops and pees in the potty regularly but not reliably so she is still in a diaper full time until she shows us that she is really wanting to do it every time. My son we started potty training right before he turned 3 because he didn't like diapers anymore. We had three naked days at home and he was fully trained before he turned three.

I think I answered them all.

We do naked days but it's because she gets a lot of rashes.
Our son like...PTed himself. as soon as we stopped pushing it, he did it

Haha, there you go. My toddler is pretty ahead of the curve when it comes to vocabulary and alphabet. She could recognize all uppercase letters by 18 months, and not too long after all lower case. She knows a lot of her phonics as well but she isn't putting together words yet as far as reading goes (she just turned 22 months). She loves to sing the ABCs too and can get most of them in the right order and she even sings the 'now I know' part lol. She speaks in a lot of 3-5 word sentences and I have no idea what her vocabulary is.. she converses pretty darn well. She knows her numbers fairly well 1-12 but doesn't get them all in the right order.. It's normally '1,2,36,8,9,10, 11,12' lol. But she can count objects to three with no issue and she can recognize all the numbers 1-12.

She's not potty trained though.   LOL

Gianna is 18 months old. She speaks, a lot. A lot more than Sophia did at this age! She will put three words together "sit down mommy" "come eat cereal" "stop that don't touch" mommy, daddy, momma, sissy, milk, outside, bottle, night, too (how she says I love you) thank you, thanks, please, welcome, dog, cat, woof, meow, fresh beat, bubbles, eat, juice, and I'll stop there because I know I'm already getting doubted  
You're in my PT though so you'll catch video updates when I put them on. Lol.

As far as physically, I mean running walking and climbing. She can't jump though. Is that usual?? Can Bri jump ?

As far as potty training, no clue yet! Sophia was PT 2-3 months before her 3rd birthday fully and it worked well for us  

Oh and the newest one is poop   she tells me when she has jt so I can change her diaper

I believe you! Because Bri does say a lot. But she doesn't out many words together yet.
And she can like...half jump. She'll get like...a centimeter off the ground. And it's happened like twice
