My ex gets served the RO today

I'm so nervous... the police are going to his house today and serving him a paper showing everything I said about him (about the abuse and all), and explaining that he cannot call me or come within 50 meters of me, my parents, my daughter or my SO. He will have two days to oppose this. Meaning he will have to get a lawyer and then we would have to go to court. The way the law works here, I'll likely win even if that happens but I don't know if I can stand seeing him in a court room... I don't know if I could hold my composure... I'm nervous.

He is going to receive my current address too... which scares the crap out of me. He is going to know where I live, what if he tries something? Everyone keeps saying "well, if he does something he will go to prison".... yeah, but that will be after I'm dead so seriously won't matter anymore!  

I've got the "what's the worst that can happen" mindset at the moment, but I doubt he will oppose or even find a lawyer. I also doubt he will risk prison time or anything in order to hurt me. He wouldn't last a day behind bars (especially if you know anything about prison in Guatemala ).

I won't know anything until tomorrow... my lawyer is going to call me tomorrow and let me know how it went with the police and everything.

Good luck OP! Hope you stay safe and the prick doesn't try anything. and good on you for speaking up and doing something about the abuse, it's an extremely hard thing to do and takes a lot of courage :-) you should be proud.

I remember you posting not to long ago about him calling your parents house, you are doing the right thing!!!! I really hope after this he will leave you alone forever. Good luck sweetie

Glad you are doing something about it! If he was physically abusive the smurf should be locked up for your safety.

There wasn't an option to not let him know your address?!? You think with him being abusive, they wouldn't WANT to give that to him...

ETA: When I got a PFA (protection from abuse) against BD I had the option to hide my address, but he already knew it anyways so it didn't really matter to me.

My lawyer did everything she could to hide it... but they said there was nothing they could do. If I move I do not have to update my address. I plan on moving in March anyways.

thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard. theyre going to serve him with a restraining order, so they'll tell him where you live, and give him every detail of what you said. Whatever sytem decided this was a good idea is SmUrfED up.

Well, it's the way it is here... to be honest, I know this sounds stupid but I'm glad he is going to hear the things I said... I want him to know that that he couldn't get away with it and I told EVERYTHING. KWIM?

I do hate that he has my address though.
