A little long, but I wanna get the details in. Lol. I'm sorry.
What's funny, is that I was in the hospital the week before (Nov. 6-10th) for kidney stones. They also did an ultrasound to check on my son to see how he was and he was already over 8 lbs and I hadn't even reached 38 weeks. My due date was the 26th. My iron was so low that I had to have a transfusion, but they didn't do that until the 9th. The 10th I felt a lot better and they discharged me, but went ahead and scheduled an induction for the 19th because they were worried that the baby would be too big for me to deliver.
So, on the 16 at about 9:30. my daughter (age 2) and I were skyping with her dad. I went to change positions so I could be more comfortable and I felt this..popping sensation, like a big rubberband being broken, and then a gush. I called out to my mom and told her what happened and she called my dad. He was about 45 minutes away, so we had to wait to go to the hospital. The hospital didn't allow children in labor and delivery. They could make short visits, but not stay for long periods of time.
So my dad gets home and my mom and I head up to the hospital. We get ther at around 10:30 - 11 AM. They go ahead and use the little paper to check and see if my water broke and it was positive. They admitted me and at the time, I was having what seemed like menstrual cramps. Nothing major. So they did another ultrasound to check on little Josh and they estimated his weight at 8 lbs 2 oz. They hooked me up to pitocin to get my contractions started.
At 12:30, my contractions were getting really painful, but I was still able to breathe through them. Now, I had been up all night with him pushing down really hard, so I was exhausted. They offered me some pain medicine and I accepted it with no arguments. After that, I was all good for a while.
Then it started to wear off. They offered the epidural and I took it. They checked me before I got it and I was only 2 cm. After the epidural, I swear that time just flew by. I was only in labor for about 4 hours before they told me that I was ready to push. I went from 2 to 5 to 8 to 10 in a matter of a couple hours. I pushed a couple times for the nurse and she called the doctor in. The doctor had me push a couple times and told me I was gonna have a baby really soon.
I swear I pushed like 4 or 5 times, but my mom said 3 pushes and he was out. It was scary because he was really limp and wasn't moving. They called for respitory, but by the time they got there, the nursery nurses already had him screaming. I was crying my eyes out the whole time. My mom and dad were just smiling up a storm. He was absolutely.
At 6:04, Joshua Cole was born. 8 lbs 8 oz. 21 inches long. <3
