Hand Foot and Mouth - when is it still contagious?

So, I haven't taken B to any play dates in a while, and we're planning one tomorrow. A mama asked if we were comfortable with her bringing her LO tomorrow, and she thinks her kid had HFM last week, but says she has been acting normal since Thursday. She didn't take her LO to the doctor because her and her husband had the stomach flu, so she isn't even really certain her LO had it.
I really want her to come because B and her LO get along really well  

Thoughts?

I wouldn't. But I'm overly cautious. I think once the rash begins, it's no longer contagious. That's what we were told when I was working in a daycare, anyway.

If I remember right it's 7-10 days and if the sores are still open they are contagious

2 of my kids jus got over it and once the fever goes away and the red bumps have shown up it isn't contagious at least that's what I've been told and it took my kids exactly 7 days from when I noticed it to start acting normal again so it's ur call I'd ask how long the kid has been fever free maybe

I heard that too but then I was told if it was the type where the rash leaked stuff, that it was still contagious as it leaked the fluid.

I didn't know this existed until a few days ago. A girl I know had it & so did her little boy. What exactly causes it? Is it just a really bad rash?

I would not go. I had my son have hand foot and mouth 4 times in the matter of 3 months. I cleaned EVERYTHING every time and he still got it. The doctor said it is really unlikely but POSSIBLE for him to catch a different strain every time and there was nothing I could do to prevent it (or know where he kept getting it from..he goes to daycare so I presume there) but OMG i would NOT chance it that soon. I even caught it from my son two times that he had it. It is very contagious so me personally, I would not.

But the doctor did say that after the fever is gone, you cant get it anymore. The incubation period is like 2-3 days or something? So you prob. would be in the clear but I would just be too scared to chance it considering my unwanted history with hand foot and mouth lol.
