Son's name

So I'm due February 19th. My fiance and I decided that if we had a boy he'd name him and I'd name a girl. We'd both get veto powers though. He came up with some really off the wall crazy names once he found out we were having a boy. Finally he said "Ivan Holloway." I love the flow it has. Holloway is his mom's maiden name and there are no more men in her family to carry it on. My sister hates the name and so do a 3rd of the people we've told the name to. How I wish we had kept it to ourselves until we had him. So just an idea, make your baby's name a surprise for your family.

Even if you had waited, they still wouldn't like it.

If you love it then it doesn't matter. It has meaning to you guys and I think that is great!

I kept my first a surprise for that exact reason and my seconds is also a surprise, even though we havent decided. I dont want anyones influence on the name i choose except mine and my husbands.

This is the mindset I'm trying to keep as well! If our baby is a boy my husband and I have decided on Atreyu Jacob.

Ivan isn't a name I'd ever use, but with Holloway its a really cool combination. I think you should stick with it especially since it has meaning and you both like it.

I actually ended up using people's comments and criticism to choose my daughter's name. I had to choose on my own though, her dad wasn't around during the pregnancy. I couldn't narrow it down and I didn't like anyone's suggestions. I made a list of names I loved, and one by one my brother managed to mark them off the list. He made up some of the cruelest jokes about most of them, and I knew if he did it that children in school would do it as well. When I finally found one I could live with that he didn't make fun of, it stuck. I didn't love her name honestly, but I do now. I love it on her, it suits her perfectly and I couldn't imagine her with another name.
Ivan Holloway is cute IMO. If you love it, that's all that matters.

I wasn't a hundred percent sold on it for a while, but the more I imagined calling him that, and the more I thought about our son in general the more "right" it felt. When he's here and they associate the name with our adorable son they'll love it as much as we do.
