Nursery themes or not!

I've finally started getting our little Mason's nursery set up, and we didn't go with any certain theme, just painted the walls an olive green color and put a big tree decal on the wall! we've been getting whatever's cute and on sale. Nothing particular. It's adorable! But my mother-in-law came by over the holiday and honestly hated how we didn't have a certain theme (which idgaf) and wanted to repaint and take everything back and offered to buy new, matching things! lol We said hellll nahhhhhh, but did any of you go with a certain theme or just what was on sale?

Themes are kinda tacky if not done correctly. My kids have forest creature bedspreads and owl stickers on the wall

You don't need a theme, like all monkeys. You can add accents and have an eclectic theme.

With my son, I went with a theme because thats what was on sale, lol.

Yes we went with themes, dinosaurs for our first and jungle for our second. But no one else in our family ever has.

Exactly! I've seen alot of theme done that were just too much. We got owl stickers too!

We had a sail boat theme it was very cute!

with my first i didn't go with a theme or anything just what i could get and its been alot the same the second time around though i did pait boththe boys rooms. myoldest room is painted gekko green and LO is painted yellow though its my room too.

I couldn't afford it with my first, everytime I picked a theme idea I'd see SO much smurf in that theme, and then everytime I went out and saw like a lamp or blanket that would match the theme, I just wanted to buy it. And it wasn't practical for me then.

This time we'll do a theme, but I see no NEED for a theme.

I dont have a theme either i just got a cute pink crib set and then got a bunch of other pink things to match, her room is pink brown and white , i love it...

She just has too much money and thinks everything has to be perfect!

Well its not her baby , she had her kids , now she has to leave you and ur s/o to do whatever u want with ur baby , i hate when people try to tell me what to do with my babies things

That pretty much sums our situation up. I would much rather go ahead and stock up on diapers and smurf instead having all matching things.

Yep! She didn't even remember how to put my stepsons diaper on, so I definately didn't listen to smurf she said!

Well, that was rude! I don't mind themes as long as they aren't characters [winnie the pooh, disney princesses, dora...etc] We pick a color scheme and try to stick with items that'll coordinate without going overboard. My likes change, the kid will eventually have their own input, I don't want to spend a fortune replacing everything every time I get a wild hair...lol
