Quoting Hannah Dilks:" i smoked pot today and i'm being induced tomorrow. do they drug test you when you give birth? if so ... [snip!] ... horrible right now. i don't want my child to be taken away from me. also, how should i go about this? tell them i smoked weed?"

What a stupid thing to do...
I know here they run a drug test automatically if they have reason to believe they need to but I don't think you could lose custody unless it was something like cocaine etc.
Still considering you don't know the laws in your area, you sure are taking a huge risk here. Especially after already testing positive in the past. It is extremely selfish and irresponsible of you to risk losing your child to take a hit.

Because marijuana is a lot safer than OTC pain killers, anti nausea pills, and sleeping pills. There are various reasons why she may have found it necessary or needed to.

Well, this is a valid point. Doctors prescribe class C meds to pregnant women all the time, which may or may not be safe. Difference is, those meds are legal. Not necessarily safer, though.

Regardless if she needed it or not, its still illegal and she knowingly had her doctor tell her to get it out of her system. She had one day left until she was in the clear.

That might be true, but it was still a stupid thing to do. double

Hoping the best for you op. Here they do a urine drug test when you are in l&d whether its triage or being admitted. If it comes up you could play stupid & say you dont know how it was positive. Tell them you haven't done it but have been visiting friends for holidays so maybe they may have before you got there or something. Good luck.

won't matter. if a urine test comes back positive, they'll test baby... if baby is positive, CPS will get involved

Even if it is safer, I'd rather be in pain, nauseous, and have sleepless nights at the same time rather than risk losing my child. Hopefully for the OP this won't happen to her but if she managed will enough without drugs for a few months, I don't understand the point of it now that she's so close to delivery. Especially without checking the laws in her area first.

and if her OB is already aware, I guarantee he plans to check her even if it's not routine

Honey I laid in bed crying all night waiting for a bed to become available in L&D
I had back labor horribly
I couldn't get any relief
I was in active labor I could have given birth at home at that point.
Not once did I think man I'd love a joint
I dealt with it because I wouldn't do that to my kid
You're stupid.

Exactly. They may or may not get consent either. I just hope the child doesn't get put into the system over this. OP needs to get it together.
