Subchorionic Hemorrhage??

posted 25th Nov
Has anyone had this? My ultrasound went fine (or so I thought, the technician did not mention any abnormalities) but I just went to check my patient portal online and it said next to my ultrasound "Single living IUG, 9w4d. Sm. subchorionic hemorrhage"
Is there something wrong and she just didn't say anything because she is supposed to just give the info to the doctor to tell me? I looked it up but I am having a hard time finding if it's serious or not. Of course now I am worried as heck. I have had no bleeding at all this pregnancy. Has anyone had this? TY

It's fairly common and if there's only one and it's small, it's nothing to be too concerned about. Usually the techs can't tell you about them and you have to wait for the doctor to tell you and explain it. I had three massive ones with my second, and I have roughly a dozen of them that have clotted with this baby. My circumstances are abnormal, but even with a dozen small ones my pregnancy has progressed beautifully.

I had one with my last pregnancy. I had bleeding with mine though. My son is now 2 weeks old. It caused no problems for me, just would make me worry when I seen the blood.

Thank you.. now that I've seen that of course I'm going to be worrying all the time that I'm going to start bleeding.. but I'm 13 weeks now and have had none. Do you know if it can go away or if it is definitely there for the whole pregnancy?

Did you bleed? That is a pain because my u/s was over 3 weeks ago and my next appt. isn't until Dec. 4. Such a big gap for me to be wondering.

With my secon daughter I bled like a period several times and eventually bled out the hemorhages. With this one I had some spotting in the first trimester. They clotted up at around 9 weeks though and I haven't had anymore bleeding.

Does the blood have to come out or can it resolve itself with no bleeding? Sorry for all the q's.. promise this is my last one!

Don't worry about it! Better to ask them and put your mind at ease!

They can resolve themselves by bleeding out, clotting, or reabsorbing into the uterine or placental tissue. If you do start bleeding, you should definitely call the doc because in rare cases they can cause a tear in the placenta. Usually though, bleeding can be taken as a sign that it's resolving itself.

I am 16 weeks pregnant and i've had 3 huge bleeds but so far so good. i'm scared out of my mind. each time the risk of the placenta tearing away with the blood increases and each bleed is called a threatened miscarriage. it is a big deal. its actually life or death. the sad truth is that if the placenta does tear away theres nothing that can be don and the baby wont get the nutrition it needs to survive. my doctors plan to take my baby at 24 weeks and that scares me. i pray a lot. and i order a dopler on line so i can check on him everyday.

Mine went away. I think most do. Sometimes they bleed out, sometimes the blood is absorbed.

Yours sounds like a rare case, mama. I'm so sorry you have to go through that, but in most cases they are neither a threat or a concern to pregnancy and actually considered to be a normal result of the placenta attaching to the uterine wall.

I hope things get better for you and your little one can hang in there for a while yet. Don't lose hope! I've been tyere, done that and totally understand how scary it can be when it is a severe case.

24 weeks, wow! I really hope everything goes OK for you and said a prayer for you!

i guess i just realized how negative my post was and it is unhelpful for you. i'm sure your case isnt anything to worry about or your next appointment wouldn't be so far out. i've been seen every other week and am considered high risk. i'm really sorry you are worried but i believe if it was something to worry about someone would have told you.
