What are some decisions you made that you attribute to your parents parenting styles? What are some things that other people blame their parents for that you view as cop outs.


Ie: absent father - teen pregnancy/ promiscuity,

Except I want to branch out further to the less obvious, if you were spanked as a child or lived in a hostile household, what are something that you deal with now that you believe are related?

My class has spent weeks doing interviews in homeless shelters and smurf.. I'm slacking I only have a week left lol.

Would you mind? You can summarize and make it anonymous enough that you can use child #1 and child #2 so you don't feel so probed.

My parents are very oriented to making "safe decisions" like going into teaching and getting a governement job, tenure, etc.
They told me i could do ANYTHING and be anything i wanted, then they encouraged only safe schools and majors.
I was ver unfluenced by their guidance (which was NOT bad advice), did more safe things but became very bored and branched out into more risky things with bigger upside.

People blame their parents for not encouraging them to achieve in school. Last I check, there are COUNTLESS examples that prove otherwise.

Well, I've considered becoming a mentor for child abuse advocasy/awareness. Give me some time and I will get it organized for you   I've been dealing with PTSD for 10+ years. My brother handled it differently than me and became violent and jealous. It's a crazy story. We survived being the children of a sociopathic father
