I believe they test you and your baby for drugs after you give birth... right? I know they did with both my kids.

not all. i think it depends on the hospital, doctor, and/or particular situation.

I feel like what people do is their business- I do Feel bad for all those babies who where exposed or had defects because the mother smoked anything while she was pregnant!

never did with my son, and my friend just had a baby a few weeks ago, at the same hospital with the same doctor, and they didn't test her...she smoked before they left for the induction. I am not asking because of test worry's, on my fact sheet it says no alcohol,just asking if it effects the surgery in anyway.
I am very sick daily.

No, I was never tested, and neither was my son.

not arguing, but just so you know, there is absolutely no proof that thc has negative effects on children exposed to it in utero. smoking it, definitely has negative effects because of the smoke, it deprives the fetus and placenta of oxygen, but just the chemical ingested another way. none.

They are as routine as the hearing test where I delivered.. I Love the idea actually and the reason being the things I read in this thread..

Hmm, that's weird. I was told by my OB they do. If it's negative, they don't mention it at all but if its positive they tell you something. I didn't know they test me and my son until I was pregnant with my DD almost 4yrs later and a new OB. He told me they did and that most hospitals do and that he would test me and my DD too, that it's normal... I feel a little violated lol... I thought it was normal.

Its illegal from what I know for them to test you with out your knowledge.

i thought you needed consent to every single test and procedure they conduct. i would think drug testing without consent would be a violation.

They say it's listed in the paperwork that is signed when women register at the hospital...? Idk. So, it could of been in there and I just skimmed passed it.

Not if it routine- HIV is the only one that I know of you do not have to consent to and some of the labs they draw for things like down syndrome etc. Denying a drug test only causes suspicion !!

That's what I'm saying, they have to tell you what they're testing for. I don't even remember being tested for anything before hand.

I'm pretty sure a drug test is routine in Southern CA. Because I had my kids in 2 different cities 2hrs away from each other and both hospitals tested myself and my babies...
