"Slut"

Yes, I'm opening this can of worms.

Why do so many people feel the need to call women "sluts"? It's obviously an insult, it's obviously meant to be a hurtful name...and all because of a woman's sex life? I just don't understand.

Why does the number of sex partners a woman has need to earn her a hurtful name? And how many people must a woman sleep with before she is a "slut"? Who decides this magic number?

Why is the way a woman dresses a reason to call her a hurtful name like "slut"? Shouldn't we be able to dress however we want without people calling us awful names?

I honestly think we need to eliminate the whole idea of a "slut" from our culture. Sexuality is an intensely personal thing and I don't think it's fair to judge anyone so harshly for it.

I don't think it's necessarily the number.

The only time I refer to people as sluts is
A.) They have slept with quite a few dudes that I KNOW of in a very short amount of time
B.) They dress likes sluts
C.) They act like sluts, i.e. making out with random dudes all the time

Why don't we eliminate all hurtful words and insults?

I always say I used to be a slut because I was just out for sex in my younger years 

i agree in some way men can sleep around all they want but women are the bad ones

Honestly I don't think that everyone who is called a slut deserves it but if you have a 10 guy train on you the best terminology doesnt come to mind. And it isn't about the number of people you sleep with really. It's how you act about it. You have all the right in the world to hop on as many dicks as you want but I also have the right to feel whatever way I want about you.

And the clothing thing, just no. Dressing sexy is different than barely wearing anything. You don't have to show off a lot of skin just to look sexy. More times than not it ends up looking trashy. I'm all for women showing off the goodies they have but in a tasteful manner. Boobs and ass hanging out with flashes of your hooha is not appealing.

....Those are still all really stupid reasons to judge someone so harshly. What does it matter if a girl is doing any of that? What concern is it of yours? Why call her names?

I typically don't call them sluts to their face. It's more of a "Hey BFF, have you seen that smurfing slut around lately?"

I hate the word slut. I think people shouldn't down a woman because of her sex life.

What do you call a woman who is now in a stable relationship but at one time was very promiscuous? A recovered slut?

But that's just it though. Why? Why is it so horrible that you must call someone names because of PERSONAL choices they make that don't concern you?
