Unfortunately the show is exaggerated, specially now that stores are closing a lot of their couponing loopholes. :/

What I did was find out coupon policies from local stores, see who also does price matching. Make sure you get rewards cards! Every Sunday I clip my coupons and print some online when I can, use e-coupons (they're connected to store rewards cards) and look at the ads. It takes a while but when you use coupons in junction with store sales you can get stuff pretty cheap. I usually save 25-50% of my bill. Just know ot takes time and a little bit to get a system down.

I agree, it's completely exaggerated. Yes, they appear to be saving money. However, look how much of one item they need to purchase in order to actually save anything. Who the smurf needs all that mustard??? These major shopping trips are not for weekly items that are perishable that a family needs. They're for stockpiling. Yes, they probably save a lot in the long run, but you'd need the storage space to be able to handle it all, and it would take a long time to see a return on your investment.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm actually going to be clipping coupons more now that we have stopped shopping at Walmart. We're also getting a Costco membership in order to save on diapers and wipes (their Kirkland diapers are just like Huggies, which are the only diapers I use) as well as other items.

Unless he can eat it, I see no reason to have that much. Just for the thrill of seeing how much you've saved? Extreme couponing seems like just another addiction to me.

I think it would be awesome if I could go to the grocery store and get $400 worth of food and personal needs. But I wouldn't want things like 50 deodorants I would want what I need for the month.
I might stock up SOME on nonperishable things but I don't need that much.
