re: happy holidays vs merry christmas

Merry Christmas, and no. If someone were to say Happy Hanukkah, Happy Solstice, or Happy Kwanza then more power to them. I wouldn't be offended.

I just say Happy Holidays because I figured it was a good habit to get into.

Happy Holidays when at work or with people I don't really know. Merry Christmas with people I know who celebrate Christmas.

I only get bothered when people SHOVE Merry Christmas down your throat. Like, I'll say "Happy Holidays," and they'll get all huffy and argue that "It's MERRY CHRISTMAS! This is about CHRISTMAS!" When I worked retail I got that a lot and I always smiled and said Happy Holidays again, haha.

Me too. I'm like, shoot. I wished you Happy Holiday's, which means ANY holiday. If you're so freaking worried, consider it Christmas and New Years I'm talking about, haha. I mean, why get upset? And if someone wishes me something I don't celebrate, oh well! I mean, even if I don't celebrate Christmas (I do, but as an example) that doesn't lessen that they want me to have a good one, no matter how I spend that day.

I don't get why people waste their time being upset about these things.

I say both depending on what I feel like saying. Happy Holidays to me also encompasses Thanksgiving and New Year's, etc. What pisses me off is those dickbags who are smurfs about it and go "IT'S MERRY CHRISTMAS NOT HAPPY HOLIDAYS". Listen up you bag of dicks, not everyone celebrates Christmas and not everyone is as arrogant and stupid as you.
