pregnancy & exercise

What's safe? Not pussy smurf like "a long walk" because that's really just work and I don't get am endorphin rush. Plus I walk over a mile a day to and from all the busses I have to take.
1, I have a pretty weak core and I need to tighten that smurf up or i'm not going to be able to push this kid out
2, I got huge with my daughter and so far i've stayed pretty small just by eating really well and I'd like to keep that up as I get bigger
3, i'm going through a really crappy breakup and I still live with him and it's really tough right now and I kind of just want to lie in bed and cry and eat donuts, so I need to get that happy kick and I can't exactly run until I throw up like I used to.
so...suggestions? I see my doc on Tuesday and I'd like to ask her about specific exercises then.

Yoga, dancing, and what someone else said swimming.

Dancing? I danced through my whole pregnancy and it soothed and relaxed me even though I was moving around like crazy. The music helped with stress - a lot of times I would actually be crying and dancing at the same time.

I still go to the gym everyday. my doctor said that it's safe to keep doing whatever your workout was before pregnancy as long as you have been maitaining all along.
I do light weight raining, medicine ball core excersises (althought they are getting tougher lol) and an hour on the eliptical usually.
Yoga is also great, low impact and release lots of endorphins.

And it's winter i'm not going in the pool I think pools are really gross anyway.

I think she meant the pool at the gym. Aside from being gross, the chlorine will zap the pink right out of your hair.

I actually had to stop Zumba. It was a little too high impact, really intense and you almost automatically over do it because such a great work out. It impossible to stay hydrated! Lol It's actually what sent me into labor with my daughter.

I don't think the exhilarate one is very high impact, and I break a lot for water and to catch my breath. I've never done a full workout.

I jogged my whole pregnancy, until 39 weeks. I was very active and fit before pregnancy too though...its best to start early into your pregnancy so you don't shock your body or the baby. I walked up a hill that was probably the steepest one in the whole town, and jogged down it. Did that like once a week until I had my wee one. Going on a morning jog while pregnant was my favorite way to wake up and get my fat pregnant ass out of bed. Helped me start my day.

Well, the "start early" boat has pretty much sailed, since i'm halfway done...

If you're in pretty good shape, you should go ahead and try a very light jog, and just see how you feel. If there is any discomfort or pain you might need to just walk up some hills or something, but I have always been told by my doula and midwife friends that as long as it feels okay, you should never keep yourself from exercising. I say just see how it feels, I really don't think there is much risk in trying unless your high risk.
