High fever for two days in 3 year old??

posted 24th Nov
WTF?
I don't get it. LO is running a fever when off of Tylenol or ibuprofen it is running 101 degrees F under her arm, yesterday it got up to 101.8 under arm, so I gave ibuprofen and scheduled an appointment with a doc for a check over before the weekend and since I have Clinical Monday I wanted to get everything taken care of if there was something.
She is constipated but got out a two inch turd finally today, before that it was rabbit turds for the last few days. Trying to get her to drink apple juice for constipation, she barely drinks barely eats.

Do I take her in again tomorrow if she is still running a fever? I only give meds when she tells me she has a headache, other than that no complaints.

Her fever isn't that high, IMO. I'd just keep a close eye on it and encourage her to drink fluids. If it gets above 103.5, then I'd take her in if I were you.

The fever isn't that bad for the age, but the duration and the obvious dehydration evident from the poops is of some concern. Not eating is not near as big a deal as not drinking.

I have a rule when kiddo is sick...if it isn't awful for him, and he will actually consume it, he can have it. Yes, when my child has been sick, he spent a day on pediatrician-sanctioned root beer. We do what we must.

She needs to start drinking. That is the biggest concern. If you can't get her to, then she needs to see a doctor for dehydration evaluation and to figure out what is going on.

How old is she? Try ice pops if possible it will give fluids & help bring down any temp. I love childrens advil too. It works better than the Tylenol & motrin.

Advil and Motrin are the same.

I would take her in tonight. If she has been running a fever for 3 days, not eating not drinking and is complaining of a headache I would take her in it could be something more than a virus.

Sorry kiddo needed me. On top of her being sick she has been having nightmares for the last two weeks too.
But yes that is why I have been letting the fever burn as much as possible.
Hopefully she goes tomorrow and the fever stops burning, or else I will be stuck at home Monday.

I will probably take her in tomorrow if she still isn't feeling well, I am only giving her the option of apple juice tomorrow. She won't even eat oatmeal and that is her favorite, she even turned down ice cream. This kid is nuts, and our dog won't leave her side. She is still crying tears, so that is a good thing. But she has probably drank less than two cups total of liquids today, and she sweats every time her fever breaks. Won't take Popsicle's or anything either.

The fever isn't that bad. Actually my pedi recommends not treating fevers at all unless the kid is acting like he feels miserable. A fever is part of their immune system and giving them tylenol/motrin basically suppresses part of their immune system. I normally start giving motrin/tylenol when the fever hits 102.5-103. My oldest gets really high fevers when he gets sick (it hit 105 once), so i do have to watch that.

It's the not eating or drinking that is more concerning to me. Has she been throwing up? Normally a cold or flu doesn't make them drink less, just miserable and sleepy.
