tested too early?

So Im thinking that when I tested yesterday morning and saw a negative result that it might have been too early. My cycles run normally 32-38 days long and now Im on CD42. I have been nauseated and even threw up a few times. Im gassy, have cramps, specifically on one side, and tonight I noticed that I was smelling things that my sister couldn't even smell while we were driving around. She joked how pregnant women have a heightened sense of smell. So did I test too early?

Its possible, if your cycle could have been irregular this month. But if you're far enough along to have symptoms, you're far enough along to test positive.

It's possible! You could have ovulated late.

I used a clearblue easy test

You could have possibly tested too early. Don't get too discouraged though. I couldn't get a BFP with DD until I was 6 weeks pregnant.
