Mucous Plug Question, Anyone?

I am completely clueless when it comes to this. The mucous plug, I was told it is a thick yellowish plug.
Is it an actual almost solid plug or is it just a thick, gooey, yellow sort of like discharge?
Something I read said it may be tinged with blood, does that mean always? or can it be just the thick yellow goo substance?
The "plug", is it a lot/big, or can it be just a small thing?
I'm just trying to figure out if I lost mine earlier today, I feel like an idiot not knowing these things.

It usually looks like snot. Not always blood tinged. It can come put in pieces or whole.

Yes, not even kidding when I saw it I thought I sneezed and used my underwear as a handkerchief. So if it can come in pieces does that mean like seperate times? Sorry for all the questions.

I lost my plug twice with my last pregnancy. First time it was like a big yellow booger, and the second time it was brownish/blood tinged. Looked almost like a slug, lol.

Def sounds like your plug. It can come @ separate times. Some lose it a few times throughout. It can regenerate also.

Okay, thank you very much to both of you that responded! I have 5 days til my due date (because technically today is already over, otherwise it would be 6, but anyways!) I've been waiting on something to happen besides dilation and effacing.
