TTC after having my stillborn son

posted 24th Nov
I delivered my stillborn son on the 8th nov. Me and my partner have agreed to start trying again today. Its been 2weeks 3days after delivering him and people say your more fertile after giving birth. What are my chances of falling pregnant?x
And no judging please, we ARE NOT trying to replace our baby boy x

I thought you had to wait 3 months after a mc or still born. For your body to get in normal routine again.

I'm so sorry. If anyone even thought you were trying to replace your baby boy, they are complete asses and you shouldn't listen to them anyway.

Again, I'm so sorry for your loss and good luck with TTC

Me personally I would wait I had a MC at 11 weeks on Oct 27th and my doctor told me I had to wait to get pregnant (6weeks he said) let your body heal. And let your periods go back to normal I wouldnt rush.

I was told that you have to wait 6 weeks to let everything get back to normal and you dont get an infection

I would wait for your first PP period and then start TTC.

You're still very fertile for a few months after a pregnancy, so if I were you I would let my body have at least one or two regular cycles before trying again. Just to let your body heal completely. A healthy, fully healed body is a lot more conducive to a successful pregnancy next time around.
And of course you're not trying to replace your little angel. Whoever would say that obviously doesn't understand. Good luck to you.

I spoke to my midwife and consultant and they said its best to wait 3 months but its entirely up to us when we start trying to concieve again.
I dont see what the difference is from giving birth to a live baby and a stillborn baby and how long they have to wait to ttc. Everyone should be advised to wait 3 months then..

And thank you Crystal x

I have had 2 still borns (well one was considered a m/c by 1 weeks cuz I was only 19 wks) and both times was told to wait 3 cycles to give my body time to heal. I would talk to my ob if I were you just to be sure it's safe.

Everyone is advised to wait a minimum of 6 weeks for sex alone. You should give your body a cycle or two to get back to normal. Keep up on the prenatal vitamins now too. Very sorry for your loss.

Thank you! I am sorry for your loss as well! I really hope you do get your miracle soon! Take things one day at a time and try not too stress the ttc too much because it can make it harder and take longer!

There is no solid evidence that getting pregnant soon after a miscarriage/pregnancy will cause any harm. Some doctors recommend 3 months, some 1 month, some say to try whenever you're ready (this is what mine said).

So OP, if you feel ready, then go for it. I would recommend waiting at least 6 weeks, but I didn't - and I didn't listen to anyone that told me this, either. I've been there done that. I know the urgency that you're feeling right now. No one can fault you. And shame on anyone that would try.
