Christmas list for 4 year old?

posted 24th Nov
What WE are getting him already:
Angry Birds hooded towel ($15)
AB jammies ($5)
AB slippers ($5)
A Dream Light ($25).
Clothes ($50)
Dr. Seuss's "Red Fish, Blue Fish" ($
A Wall Tracks Hotwheels race track ($25)
2 small stocking stuffers ($3 each)
Hungry Hungry Hippos game ($10)

And I'm pretty sure that's it from us except maybe a couple of other books and/or small small items for his stocking.

HOWEVER, he has 6 sets of Aunts/Uncles buying for him (my 2 siblings and DH's 4 siblings), plus his grandparents on both sides, plus a couple of my friends too----and all of them want suggestions on how to spoil him. Prices will run between $20-40 as far as what everyone spends, so suggestions are welcome!!!

He's into dinosaurs, trains, super heroes, and LOVES to read.

None of those are within my budget, or those of his aunts/uncles.

Not sure how your list has anything to do with the kinds of items I asked for in the OP.

What is a good place to buy costumes? He has a pirate costume and a dinosaur costume and I made him a turtle costume out of one of DH's old green shirts. Mostly we improvise costumes, but He'd love a few capes like Batman and such or jammies that LOOK like costumes so he could use them for both ...hmm...

And coloring books would be great if we didn't have a bunch and tons of art supplies. We try to do arts and crafts often, especially on days when he's really antsy (I'll be on bedrest soon, possibly, so we are collecting items to keep him busy AND in one place).   Kid loves to paint, especially foot prints---he likes paint on his toes..weirdo!

Either showing off, or really proud and wants to share? I could never, and personally would never, spend that much.... We're on a budget but anything we have over that is going to a child we're picking from the giving tree.

He have tons of art supplies...but how much did you pay for the Fisher Price digital camera? What's the resolution on that? The only kids' digital camera I could find has like 1.8 megapixels and if I'm going to buy him a camera, I want him to get pictures worth printing at least every once in a while so I can make him a photo book at the end of the year for the photos he takes. He LOVES taking photos of me, but I don't like letting him use my Nikon D90 except in VERY controlled situations.

How much were the Leap Pad and Tag Reader? If I were to put one of those on his list, which would you recommend? Which one costs the least for all the add ons (new games/books/etc)?

And you mean you don't spend $1800+ per kid?

Personally, I'd rather teach my kid that Christmas is about fun and family and traditions, not huge expensive things. Plus, that money is better spent putting a roof over his head, food in his belly, and college education expenses in the BANK for him. I'd rather my kid have a huge savings account than $300+ presents that don't even fit under the tree. But, who am I to criticize? Maybe she has his college paid off, no personal debt or household bills or just won the lottery or soemthing?

Plus, I don't own an iPad for ME, no way my kid is getting one. If I can't think of a good enough reason to spend that money on me or my DH, I'm sure as hell not buying it as a TOY for a kid who can't possibly use it to its full extent!

I feel like I spend a lot and I normally budget $150 or so per child and then buy a combined big gift from Santa that they can share. Last year it was a ton of board games.

We're not really on a big-time budget. We have a rough idea, but DH's deployment money is there if we were to come up with something really awesome that we felt like we should get him----but, like I said, I've spent about $200 and I'm pretty much done for him (my only living kiddo). I still have to buy for DH and he has to buy for me (new used/refurb iPhone?!? *crosses fingers while cursing the a-hole who stole mine*). In previous years, we've never spent more than $200 either. I just don't think its necessary for a kid this little. I'll be blowing cash on him enough when he's older, why waste my time, energy, and money doing it now when he's just as happy with a few things?

He ASKED for 3 things---and HE can't think of anything else he wants (besides me to have a new phone so he can play with it, haha)
