how long before active labor?

posted 24th Nov
just curious how long it took everyone to begin "active" labor after they began contractions and other labor symptoms (like being sick to your stomach).

looking back, i really believe if the doctors had just left me alone, i would have gone into active labor by myself. i began having contractions and feeling sick late monday night and was induced wednesday night, still having contractions (which were becoming more regular).

how long did it take you to begin your contractions and then go into active labor?

I never experienced early labor. When I started it was full blown active labor from the start

^Me either..

My water broke at 7am they didn't decide until 7pm to check and be sure it was my water, they just told me I peed myself.. So then I was put on pitocin right away and had DS at 1:14pm the next day.

Well having painful contractions for 2 days and getting zero sleep and being worried as hell wasn't so very fun either. But its quite likely that you could have had that baby without pitocin. Here's to hoping the next ones come much faster!

I feel stupid.. What exactly is active labor? I think I know what it is, if so my active labor was only 2 and a half hours.

I woke up with contractions on Wednesday at about 9 AM and I didn't have him until 8:28 PM on Friday. I went into active labor sometime on Friday but I was just so exhausted that I truly have no idea when.
Right now, I'm having contractions 10 minutes apart. This started at like 11:00 PM on Friday and they're still just the same.

Active labor is when your cervix starts dilating faster and your contractions get stronger. Mostly after you've reached 4 cm dilated.

Ah okay, I can't say exactly but probably around an hour and 15 minutes. I went from a 2 1/2 to 10 in that time.
