Tamiflu

My mom was diagnosed with the flu on Friday afternoon and her doctor highly recommended that I call my OBGYN..I did and he wrote me a prescription for tamiflu. I was reading online and its considered a class C drug and they don't know what kind of affects it could have..this is stressing me out..has anyone else taken it? Or what do you know about it?

I took it. When my husband got the swine flu while I was pregnant and I started to exhibit possible symptoms I was prescribed it. I had no side effects and my daughter has no problems.

I took it when I was about 7 months pregnant. I caught the H1N1 from my daughter.

Well I hope I dont get sick and the baby stays ok!

I believe it only helps after you've been diagnosed with the flu or have been exhibiting symptoms for more than 3 days. Personally, I wouldn't even bother.

Well they prescribed it to my mom too. There's obviously no cure for the flu, but the supposedly the sooner on you take it the less likely you are to catch it. I just don't want to stop taking it and actually get the flu.

It only prevents certain strains of the flu. If you're already taking it, then keep taking it. I'd suggest asking your OB about it. The only thing I really know about it is that it's effectiveness has been in question since the H1N1 outbreak and a lot of the studies on it are incomplete.

Definitely talk to your OB, hon. It says on the Tamiflu website it is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women...

My OB prescribed it for me....but that was when Swine Flu was just out and my husband had it. Since pregnant women were high risk I didn't even have a hard time getting it even though there was a shortage.

Well, yeah my OB prescribed it to me as well..
I guess it could be because they don't really know the side effects with pregnant women.
