Quoting OmegaDucks!:" Babies are little people. They deserve every bit of attention that we feel we deserve. It is because ... [snip!] ... until they are able to discover the world? What I think is that he was raised with a huge amount disregard as a child."
I agree - he also told me that he once spanked his nephew really hard one time because he had an accident in his pants. -___- I didn't even know what ti say, except that I disagreed with spanking.
I added to the picture that we have the same social and emotional needs as babies even when we're adults - we are fulfilled with attachment most of the time, unless we have abandonment issues. Even as adults, we get married, share a bed, turn to our spouse or partner or best friend for emotional/social interaction. It's a basic need that we need to have met and isn't exclusive to babies. He's a pretty weird guy. Honestly I was insulted when I read his comment. Like I said, IDC if other parents use the CIO technique in their homes... but I don't go around acting like a perfect, know-it-all on the subject or degrade them for their choices.
