Dd says neck hurts

posted 24th Nov
Hey ladies. So dd is 5 and last night she woke up and said her neck was hurting. I asked where and she pointed to the back. I rubbed it for her and gave her a heating pad (I know I should do ice but there's no way shed have put ice on her neck). She layed down and fell asleep so I assumed it wasn't hurting her that bad.

I looked up causes of neck pain in children and it said the mos common was neck strain like sleeping wrong. Which is possible. The other was menengitis but she can move her neck so I doubt it's that. Then the other was trauma. This worries me cause she fell behind the couch last night and she said she was fine she didn't cry or anything. But I just worry that maybe she hit her head or neck cause she was behind the couch so I didn't see how she landed.

She woke up this morn and still says it kind of hurts. Idk would you assume she just slept on it wrong or do you think it could be related to her fall? I would have assumed if she hurt herself falling she would have told me sooner. Idk. TIA. I'm gonna shower then come back and check this again.

It's hard to say when I was a kid I feel and landed on my head everything seemed fine (I was 12) then a couple days later I had a massive headache and my neck felt like it was on fire turned out I knocked one of vertebrae out of place and had to go see a chiropractor to put it back where it was supposed to be.

It could be sleeping wrong. You could always try taking her to a chiropractor. It could help tremendously if it happened to toss something out for her.

So is there anything they'd do at the hospital. I don't wanna spend thanksgiving in the haopital again to find out she slept wrong. We have our second thanksgiving today and I missed actual thanksgiving because I was in the hospital. Maybe just watch her closely For worsening? I'll call the chiro Monday.

But unless she's in terrible pain it can wait until they open Monday you think?

The only thing they did at the ER was take an x-ray and then I had to make a follow-up with my primary which set everything up for the chiropractor.

Could she be meaning her throat? I only ask because my mom babysat a boy who complained that his neck was hurting. When his mom picked him up she told her about his complaints. Turns out he meant his throat and had tonsilitis and ended up having to hav ehis tonsils taken out!! Poor little dude. He was the sweetest little boy too.

I don't think so. She pointed to the back of her neck. I will watch her for signs of sore throat though. Thanks.
