DD was average weight.... honestly, if her cousin could ride in hers, DD was fine in her seat. Weight-ratio speaking, her cousin was about 20 lbs at 5 months old... DD was about 10. Half the weight, I'm sure the car seat was ok for the short time we used it. And as soon as we learned it wasn't the best place for her, we moved her.

I worded it badly earlier because you sounded preachy, and for that I apologize. I just understand some moms don't know better or really don't have another choice, despite what you're saying. I get what you're saying, but I've been at the end of the 'dirt broke, baby refuses to wear, our store has no car seats, and I NEED to grocery shop' line before.

  That is just ridiculous. All our supermarkets have trolley shelters all over the car park, you just put your shopping in your car return it to the nearest trolley shelter and one of the supermarket staff collect them all like every half hour.

Sorry too. When I'm passionate about something I get on a roll. My intentions were only to let moms know how unsafe it is. Like myself and you we didn't know at one time how unsafe it was, we know now

Yeah here we don't even have those kind with the infant seat. Also all our shopping carts are dirty and rusty. And yes there are areas to put them in the parking lot but half the people leave them wherever the hell they want.
Even if they did have the infant seats in them I would NEVER put a baby in them and especially not at Walmart like everyone is saying lol I avoid Walmart like the plague because where I live, that's where all the really nasty ghetto poeple go that don't take care of their own kids let alone themselves or the store's belongings.

The carts here fit car seats... there's a locking mechanism at the back that clips on. I mean, you can't push the cart like you're in a race or make sharp ass turns, but it's safe assuming a responsible parent is pushing the cart.

Just because something works best for you doesn't mean it works best for everyone. Like I said when I was doing it before I didn't know it was THAT unsafe but even now that I know if I'm in the same position with this baby that I was in with my son I WILL do it again.
I would much rather make the extra effort to make sure the care wouldn't tip over(just like I have ALWAYS done anyway) than my son get some kind of infection or disease or scream for an hour. If a baby cries it's for a reason. I don't like it when people use that excuse for RF vs FF. My son is 2yrs 8 months and still RFing and will as long as his MyRide allows. However, you can't FF and take extra precaution like you can place a baby in a shopping cart and take extra precaution.

id put car seat in side of the basket then have hubby get another cart but i know not all of u have some one with u to do so i always have hubby with me when i go to the store so not a problem for me

I usually do my shopping with my mom! haha SO is terrible to take to the store! But yeah, it sucks on days you don't have someone to go with you!!
