Car seat vent

posted 24th Nov
This kinda is about Logan but it's tied in with a upcoming baby.

Now, Logan is 10 months old and hit the 20 lb mark. Before our car seat nazi's come after me ( ), I realize it's 1 year AND 20 lbs plus recommended to stay RF as long as possible for best safety. I have every intention of him staying RF til he's unable to fit comfy. I have one of the mirror to keep a eye on him.

Now here comes the fun! I have had several people start the "Why don't you turn him around already talk?". I've tried to explain it to my mother, but I get the when you were a baby, you'd be dead talk. I told her I'd let her watch the video but she'd not handle it and my dad would flay me alive for it. She's mentally unstable, primarily wheelchair bound, and has extreme night terrors.

Now the other person, she's due soon. She freaks me out a bit ago. Tells me that he's big enough now to go ahead and turn around. Nope not doing it. I told her that I'd give her my mirror to help her later on with her new one and she's like don't need it. She proceeds to say this and I just wanted to die, "I'm not going to bother RFing."   She means that the baby will be FF from birth on. I really want to see what goes down when she tries to leave the hospital with the seat not done properly. I should say she does have a older child and I have no clue if she did things right with her.

Now the last one, has a child (1 1/2 yro) as well. Says I should turn him around already cause "Nobody will know that he's not a year old yet" I know she read all this crap on car seat safety, but I don't know why she thinks that he'll be safe.

I've tried explaining the laws, the safety and everything. But I'm just talking to myself it seems. I just needed to grumble about it all.

You can explain it, show people the video, if they still don't get it, they're stupid.
And I have called the police on people before when I saw their newborn+ facing forward. It's child endangerment and I'm glad I did it to possibly save that baby's life. People always have the "it can't happen to me" mentality, until it actually does. I don't chance anything.

Screw what anyone else thinks. I had my 3 year old rear facing. People have told me that I am stupid, that it's ridiculous, that they must be uncomfortable... even called me a moron. I don't give a smurf.... if the AAP and Highway Safety Division all recommend them rear facing as long as their seats allow.... I'm going to do it. I know it's over 75% safer to have them rear facing, and I don't want them to die in a car accident. Car accidents are a leading cause of death in children under 3. Life is just too precious. Let them be idiots and pray to god that they don't have to learn the hard way, the dangers of the road.

2 of my friends faced there sons at 9 months and 10 months. My daughter turned 1 on the 7th and is just now 20 pounds and everyone is telling me i need to FF her. I bought a myride 70 just so she could stay RF longer.

See that's what bugs me soooo much! The reality and the law (for at least a year) is that RFing is just so much safe.

She'll probably get pulled over and then that ticket .... might ... make her change her mind, unless the hospital forces the issue when they take the baby home or possibly do something to keep her checked on that she might endanger the baby.

I will not FF til I feel he's safe and I won't be budging on it. I just think the insanity is more than I can bear to think on.

I think my mom might be coming around on him staying RF but she tends to forget alot of conversations.

My hospital would have called the police if you tried to leave with an infant forward facing.

My hospital inspects and won't let you leave with baby if the carseat is improper and will call the police to back them up if need be. So if her hospital is anything like mine she will have a fun time trying to leave the hospital with her newborn.
