Is it stupid?

Here's my dilemma. I LOVE the name Adelaide. Like, to the point I almost want a girl instead my oh so wanted boy just so I can use it. But I'm big on giving kids nicknames. Addy would be cute but problem is, my first daughter is Madelynn and we call her Maddy... she's 3, can't really change it now.

I could call her Ada but, Eh, it's not that cute. I want her middle name to be Jamie regardless so I could call her AJ. Would that be weird? Is there a better nickname than Ada or Addy? Maybe De or Dede? I dunno... gimmie some ideas to run past the hubby.

If it's a boy it'll be Alexander or Alexandre James so we can call the baby AJ without getting the gender wrong (I'm only 5 wks, def don't know it yet haha)

If you can spell Adelaide correctly, How come you can't spell Madeleine correctly?

AJ is not a girls nick name and Addy is just ridiculously close to Maddy.

I think you need to keep looking.

We used -lynn after my MIL, SIL, sister, and a friend of mine who died. I'm not discussing the spelling of my daughter's name. It's not nearly as bad as most peoples' choices.

Personally I find gender roles to be stupid. Name your child whatever you want. You can't make everyone happy. My daughter's nickname is Dani. Which could also be a boy's name. IMO, who cares what other people think.

That's true. A lot of people use "masculine" nicknames... for like Nicole, Danielle, Alexandria, etc...

I dunno, I kinda regret my daughter's name and just am scared to regret this baby's name. I'm over thinking things.

Thank you. The -lynn is very dear to me. I didn't do it just to smurf with the spelling. I didn't want two middle names either.

Why not? I want to make sure my kids have a few options of what they can be called when they are old enough to pick. My daughter could be Madelynn, Maddy, Lynn, Ann, Maggy (her initials are MAG), etc.

This baby will have a few options as well.

Our daughter will be Margaret and we plan on calling her Maggie. A lot of people do that.

i was thinking something with the L part of her name. Laia (sp) maybe. thats the best i can come up with. I didnt think about nicknames when i named dd India now her uncles call her indo, Indonesia or Asia ????

Could be "Del" you might even find if it is a girl you'll end up calling her "Adz" (adds)
I love the name Adelaide btw :-)

Roman's: OH thanks! I like both those ideas. Del is cute... as well as Adz. I just love the name so much I don't want to give up on it.
