Post Partum Depression

posted 23rd Nov
i had my baby boy 3 weeks ago and before getting pregnant, i took meds for manic depression. the first few days were perfect, i loved being a mom. now though, i feel like i can't even function, i obsess over dirty pacifiers, bottles and wake up during my naps to check on my baby. then there are times where i dont even wanna care for him and i feel extremely guilty about it   does it get better? will this ever go away? i want to care for my baby so badly and enjoy him but i just can't. i can't carry on a normal conversation without thinking about something else. i feel like i will be stuck in this dark hole forever.

It is serious but it should get better. Mention it to your doctor.

I had depression before I got pregnant but wasn;t taking meds at the time. After LO my hormones sent my emotions down the toilet so I got back on my medication

Your medication can take a couple weeks to start working properly.

Takes more than a few days for meds to work. Keep taking them and if you aren't feeling better in 3 weeks or if you feel things are worse get a hold of your dr

Not that I know of. It depends on if you're breastfeeding or not. What works for one person may not work for the next

If you have prior MH problems i doubt a pedi would do anything.
